ABOUT: OBRA (Observer. Bridge. Respond. Art) Collective is an interdisciplinary Latinx arts group based in Charlotte, North Carolina. OBRA is a group of Latinx, immigrant, undocumented and ally artists who create immigrant and Latinx affirming art in order to raise awareness and to celebrate the Latinx community. They do this through community-facing workshops, exhibitions, social events, murals, and artist studios.
OBRA was formed in 2013, inspired by a caravan of undocumented immigrants that traveled across the country to raise awareness about immigration reform, with the end goal to show up for the DNC. Many of those on the caravan were artists. OBRA Collective is headquartered at the Visual and Performing Arts Center at 700 N. Tryon Street.
